| Review of alcohol taxation and pricing |

| Alcohol Awareness Week 2010: 18-24 October |
|
Alcohol Awareness Week 2010 will run from Monday 18 to Sunday 24 October 2010 in England and Wales. The focus of the week for this year will be alcohol and childhood which encompasses both the impact of alcohol use by young people, and the impact on young people of alcohol misuse in the home environment. The week provides an opportunity to raise awareness of all alcohol misuse issues and to highlight current public policy as well as the work of alcohol treatment service-providers across England and Wales. More details about Alcohol Awareness Week will be available towards the end of August on the Alcohol Concern website.

A new Alcohol Concern Cymru briefing paper is aiming to stimulate wider public debate on the issue of alcohol sales at petrol stations and garages. 'Fuelling the problem?' looks at the practical difficulties of implementing a ban on these sales, and considers alternative or complimentary measures, such as the American model of ‘open container’ legislation. | Youth policy project |
|
Coming up to the completion of the project’s first year, the Youth Policy team is busy writing a report that will focus on young people’s access to support. The document is due in the autumn and will explore issues around IBA and young people, non-alcohol specialist involvement and access to support.
