The National Digital Inclusion Conference 2010
Free places for readers of our e-news!

Charity Technology Trust is proud to be one of the sponsors of this year’s two-day event which is being held at The Vinopolis Conference Centre in London on the 10th-11th March. Over 500 key digital inclusion players, providers, policy makers and practitioners will be coming together to share best practice and reflect on the progress made in 2009. With the launch of the Digital Britain Report, the recent Smarter Government paper, the appointment of a Digital Champion, and a wide scale Home Access Programme, now is the time to come together to determine how this agenda can be sustained.
Returning conference chair Matthew Taylor, Chief Executive at the RSA, will be joined by newly appointed champion for Digital Inclusion Martha Lane Fox, Minister for Digital Britain Stephen Timms MP, Chair of the Nominet Trust Jonathan Welfare, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and Shadow Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt MP, along with many others. Delegates will have the choice of four Workstream sessions, focusing on the following themes: Digital Skills for All, Digital Government for All, Housing Plus, and Health and Well-being, which will allow interaction, panel debates, and small group discussions. Click through for more information about the conference.
CTT has a limited number of free conference places for Third Sector Organisations which we’ll make available on a first come first served basis. Apply for a free conference place.

Launch of Charitywebsites.net - free charity website in minutes

If the free option or even low cost website is still a challenge for your organisation, CTT can help you every step of the way.
Terapad.com and Charity Technology Trust (CTT) have launched charitywebsites.net to offer low cost websites to charities and non profit organisations. The entry level version of the service is free of charge and even the standard version costs as little as £8 a month.
Through charitywebsites.net charities will be able to gain access to standard website templates and these include templates for branches of large affiliated organisations such as the Citizens Advice Bureau, Alzheimer’s Society, Age Concern and the RSPCA. All of the websites are powered by Terapad's unique, friendly, content management system with an editor similar to Word and PowerPoint. Each website is fully customisable in a way that you can create professional web pages and add content, so donors and beneficiaries can find you easily and read all about your organisation.

Get Connected - Funding to support adult care providers

Adult care providers who don’t currently have good access to the internet, can apply for a slice of the £12 million of investment grants being distributed by The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE)
Get Connected is a new support programme that enables improved access for staff, service users and carers to use the internet to communicate, learn and train. The programme will enable adult care and support providers, including many charities, to access information and communicate more effectively.
CTT and LASA have partnered with SCIE to support the administration of the Get Connected programme.

Latest case study from CTT
A world-leader in research
The Christie, a NHS foundation trust, is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 40,000 patients a year. Its specialist expertise is such that around 26% of its patients come from outside Manchester. As well as providing treatment, it is known as an international leader in research.
The Christie helps to fund building develpments, provides education in all areas of cancer and raises £11 million a year to help cancer care. "We help pay for research, new equipment, specialist staff and a wide range of initiatives to support patients, explains Gerald Deslandes, Corporate Partnerships Manager at the charity.
Last year, The Christie raised £70,000 for the charity by auctioning at their gala night unique pieces of art created by Bentley Motors Limited, a valued supporter of the charity. "The auction night was one of the most successful corporate event we’ve done this year," enthuses Gerald.
"The amount raised – particularly in this financial climate – was particularly outstanding...." CTT supplied The Christie with advice pertaining to the Data Protection Act and an online auction facility alongside lots of technical help and suggestions. "We explained what we were trying to do, and they came up with a package of ideas. We were looking for profile, for bids and for customer care, and CTT gave us that." Geralds reports.
"We’ve had very good service from CTT, and the organisation provides very good value for money." Read more about this case study.

TRASH TO CASH - and a great fundraising opportunity too!

BBC1 are currently making the third series of “Trash to Cash” a programme that involves people raising money for charities and good causes across the UK.
BBC1 are looking for people (that live within the M25) who are hoarders and have overly cluttered homes or don’t like throwing things away. The show will help them recycle, refurbish and repair the clutter in their homes in order to raise money for themselves and a good cause. Half of the money they raise will be for a personal project and the other half will be donated to a charity of their choice.
If you or any of your supporters are interested, please contact Nicole Julien-Connage on 020 75392027 or trashtocash@reeftv.com / nicole.julien-connage@reeftv.com.
