e-Insights

Oct 8th 09

Dear Kathryn,

Fundraising in the recession, a free report on getting your charity's message across to the general public, and our annual parliamentary surveys in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland - all in this fortnightly e-Insights mailing.

Fundraising at the end of the recession - our latest editorial

Find out why charities should hold their nerve and continue investing in fundraising to beat the recession, by reading 'A bigger slice or less pie...', our latest editorial.

Our fortnightly editorials cover everything from top tips from journalists to the importance of charity pigeonholes. If that's intrigued you, click here to see the full list.

Our surveys of the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish parliaments

In July this year we released data showing that charity donations in Scotland dropped by 9% between April 2008 and April 2009. And one of our latest editorials discusses why MPs think the public should get involved in political campaigning. Both issues related to our annual survey of the devolved assemblies, which will be taking place soon.

It's much cheaper to buy into our surveys than it would be to purchase separate omnibus questions - so if your organisation works with MSPs, AMs and/or MLAs and you are interested in monitoring what they know and think about you, email Gemma at gemma.tracey@nfpsynergy.net for more information.

Free report of the fortnight: 'Getting the message across: practical strategies to help charities change the way stakeholders see them'

The general public hold all kinds of inaccurate stereotypes about the way charities work (read our 2008 press release for just one example). Our featured report this time looks at how charities can combat those stereotypes, with practical ways to communicate a message of effectiveness to the public.

CharityComms - Inspiring Communications conferences

CharityComms is holding six one-day conferences over the next few months, all focusing on topics of interest to charity communications professionals, including one on the 26th November on the topic of 'Communicating with staff and volunteers: compelling internal communications'. Find out more and book your place here

CharityComms also has a half day seminar taking place on the 18th November, which includes Paul Eastham from the Children's Society talking about the media success of their report on 'A Good Childhood'. More info and booking details for the seminar here.
