nfpSynergy e-Insight Oct 22nd 2009

Dear Kathryn,

How charities can build awareness online, a free report on the Code of Good Governance, a governance survey, a Gift Aid petition, and the eternal question; what do fundraisers want? It's all in our latest e-Insight bulletin.

How can charities create awareness in an online world? Our latest editorial

Awareness building used to be a relatively straightforward process for charities - you aimed at the right media channels (mainly TV and print), and focused on the issues they liked to cover. But with the age of the internet things have changed, and charities need to build awareness in new ways.

Don't worry though, as our latest editorial could give you a helping hand

The Governance Code Steering Group have now launched a new consultation reviewing the principles of the code. You can have your say by filling in a short questionnaire - Click here to go to the survey, which also has more information about the consultation.

What do fundraisers want? And a new IoF petition on Gift Aid for higher rate donors

  • A few months ago we asked you to fill in a survey finding out what kind of research fundraisers want. Thanks for all your responses - we'll soon be picking a few lucky random respondents to win a champagne prize, so keep an eye on your inbox. The results of the survey were summarised by Third Sector this week - click here to read the article, and find out what fundraisers want.
  • The Institute of Fundraising have launched a new campaign, asking the goverment to make changes to Gift Aid so that charities can more easily benefit from the full amount of tax paid on donations by higher rate tax payers. You can help by clicking here and signing their petition

That's all this time, except to say that we have some current job vacancies - we're looking for interns, a business development executive and a research assistant. More information on our website here.

If you think that this newsletter might be relevant to colleagues, please forward it with our compliments.

Best wishes,
Kathryn Green, on behalf of the nfpSynergy team
