nfpSynergy e-Insights Jan 14th 2010

Dear Kathryn,

Happy new year! To kick off 2010, we've got five resolutions to help you raise awareness of your organisation. We've also got data on how the recession is affecting charities, along with other results from our State of the Sector survey, and our free report of the fortnight looks at running events for fundraising.

Five New Year's resolutions for building awareness of your organisation and your cause - our latest editorial

Have you made any resolutions for the new year yet? Don't worry if not - our latest editorial has got five ready-made ones, and there's absolutely nothing about dieting or doing more exercise. These resolutions will help you to build awareness of your organisation and your cause. Print them out and stick them next to your computer so you always know what you're aiming for in 2010.

Third Sector has started publishing the results of our State of the Sector survey, and there's some interesting and unexpected findings to be had amongst the data, including:

Our CAM fact of the fortnight

25% of the public have visited a charity website in the past 3 months. A third of those who did made a donation.

This data is taken from our Charity Awaress Monitor - our regular survey of the UK public which charities can buy into. It's a cost-effective form of research which holds a mirror up to your charity, letting you see the public's perception of your organisation and the sector in general.

Free report of the fortnight - Running for the Money

With just 4 months until the Virgin London Marathon, this fortnight we're highlighting our 2007 report 'Running for the Money'. It includes results from a survey on what UK charities think of marathons and other running events, as well as some ideas on what these events bring to the fundraising mix.
