Dear Kathryn,

How does your organisation stay competitive? That's the topic of our newest, and shortest ever, survey (one question!). We've also got data on donations to charity in Scotland, and an Innovation toolkit full of practical ideas for you to download.

How does your organisation get a competitive advantage? Complete our new survey now and win champagne or Amazon vouchers

How does your organisation stay competitive in a turbulent world? How do you make sure your performance is always improving?

Take our very quick survey (no really - there's only one proper question and then room for comments) to tell us what strategies you think your organisation is adopting to get competitive advantage. We are writing a free report called ‘Its Competition, but not as we know it’ which will be published in March. And your answers will be in it!

Scottish donations for Scottish charities? Our latest press release

The Scottish public are now more likely than ever to want their charitable donations to be spent north of the border - which could have implications for charities that fundraise and work in both England and Scotland.

The proportion of Scots claiming they would prefer any charitable donation they made to be spent in Scotland rose from 48% in April 2007 to almost 3 in 5 (59%) in Oct 2009, according to the latest data from our Scottish Charity Engagement Monitor.

Read our press release on the topic here, or download the relevant data here.

Free report of the fortnight - our Innovation Toolkit

One of our most popular free reports is 'Innovation Rules!', a look at innovative ideas and how charities can produce them (you can get it halfway down this page).  To go along with the report, we also produced an 'Innovation Toolkit' which contains practical guidelines and exercises to help you apply innovation and creativity to your working life. And it's now available on our website for the first time!

nfpSynergy news and events

Joe Saxton, our driver of ideas, is facilitating a Charity Masterclass on governance. It's being run by Taylor Vinters, and the topic is 'Trustees and Executives: Checkmate?'. You can find out more and book a place on the Taylor Vinters website.

Two charities have been in the news lately with data from our research:

- Amnesty International have made a visible impact in parliament with their latest campaign, as measured using our Charity Parliamentary Monitor.

- Livability recently commissioned us to run a survey of 500 disabled young adults, to find out if they were aware of new local authority funding systems. The results were disturbing, as shown in Livability's press release. If you'd like to find out more about commissioning a bespoke survey, get in touch with Shivani at shivani.smith@nfpsynergy.net, or call on 0207 426 8864.
