nfpSynergy e-Insights 11th March 2010

Dear Kathryn,

Improve your communications by putting a face to the numbers with qualitative research, good news for charity fundraisers from Vodafone, why Stephen Fry should be Prime Minister, and find out what young people think of politicians. All this and more in this fortnight's e-newsletter.

Putting a face to the numbers - our latest editorial

Our latest editorial looks at the value of qualitative research in enhancing charity communications, when paired with numbers and statistics. It's the research equivalent of using case studies for your media work - talking to real people can help you tell real human stories, and when backed up with the right data, can greatly improve your effectiveness at getting your message across to the general public.

Vodafone drop their charges for charity donation text messages

Vodafone have announced that they will be increasing the amount that charities receive from text message donations - it's now 90p out of every £1.

We've been campaigning on this topic for a while now - Vodafone are following the lead of O2, who cut their fees in November last year.

Keep your eyes open for a league table which will be published later this year, setting out exactly how much each operator charges per donation.

And if you're interested in find out more about text donations, read our report 'Sending out an SMS'

Stephen Fry for Prime Minister?

Should Stephen Fry run for Prime Minister? That's what young people think, according to a press release put out by the Children's Society which uses our data. More worryingly, our research also revealed that less 1 in 10 children think that politicans can be trusted.

This data was taken from our Youth Engagement Monitor, which regularly surveys young people between the ages of 11 and 25. Find out more about this research here.
