Happy new year and welcome to the very first LVSC news bulletin!
As we start 2012 we bring you our new look monthly bulletin, created to keep you updated on developments at LVSC as well as to provide an insight into policy issues and news affecting London's voluntary and community sector (VCS). |

Due to popular demand we have streamlined our policy information service and included it below in the 'policy update' section. You can still access lots more information about London's voluntary and community sector on our website policy pages.

| London's disadvantaged & unemployed face cuts |
|
Organisations that work with London’s most disadvantaged and unemployed are due to receive further cuts from London Councils across two different grant programmes.
London Councils leaders have voted to cut its London Boroughs Grants Scheme down to £8million a year from 2013 onwards. Our Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF) network is helping affected groups during this diffcult time to prepare a response.
In addition London's local authorities leaders have agreed a 50% cut to the European Social Fund matched funding pot that improves the employability and skills of unemployed people. Read LVSC's statement about the ESF cut.

| Get your health work on the radar of funders |
|
We recently launched an innovative new online site to help VCS organisations that deliver health services win more public health delivery contracts and funding.
Organisations that enter their information on to the On the Radar database site will help to raise the profile of their work with health service commissioners.
Services such as alcohol and drug misuse prevention, healthy lifestyle improvement, prevention of ill health for domestic violence victims and more are all featured on the database. |

Our latest annual review was launched in late 2011 and celebrates our 100th anniversary. It details our achievements and challenges over the past year and past 100 years, as well as our commitment to give London's poorest and most marginalised people and communities a voice. |

LVSC recently launched a campaign and report into the involvement of specialist VCS organisations in the government’s Work Programme. | Free TB awareness training in London |
| TB Alert is delighted to announce the 2012 dates for our TB training workshops for third sector organisations. The courses are open to staff who work with communities known to be at risk of TB: BME communities, homeless people, substance mis-users, people with immune systems that are weakened through long term illness and people in poor quality housing. |

| Redundancy pay increases |
|
Statutory redundancy pay increases on 1 February to a maximum of £430 per week. The redundancy guide, ready-reckoner and model policies have been updated on the PEACe Document Bank to show the new rate. |
